The Grace Bedell House

602 Custer St., Delphos, Ks.

Campaign to save Grace's House launches on October 18, 2010

Teachers from around the country will be launching the massive campaign to save Grace Bedell's house at 602 Custer St., in Delphos, Ks. on October 18, 2010 by reading "Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers" by Karen Winnick. We are encouraging students to collect pennies to help save Grace's house.

We want children to see that they have the power to do something really important. By helping to save Grace's house, they can see how a historical landmark is created. Children do have the power to make a change.

The winning classroom will receive a free pizza party and a plaque will be made with each of the students' signatures, which will be hung in the Grace Bedell house.

George and Grace moved into this house at 602 Custer Street in 1870. This house would make a wonderful library/museum. Since Grace was the first librarian in the first library of Delphos, it would be a wonderful tribute to her. The children of Delphos are trying to save her house. Please help them save her house.
